A bachelor pad is an apartment (Pad) where a bachelor or bachelors (one or two) live alone
The terms on what defines a Bachelor Pad are sometimes vague and somewhat debated, but one common definition refers to it as an apartment (with some personal belongings) designed as a social gathering place (rather than just a single unit). It has been called, among other terms, "the bachelor's apartment"the bachelor's paradise". Bachelor pads have become increasingly popular as a result of the increasing demand in people to live independently. As a result of this increase in demand, Bachelor Pad Rentals have increased drastically, and many companies offer private rentals to single men (often those who are not yet married) by the month to be used exclusively as a single person's home.
A bachelor's pad is different from a regular apartment in many ways. First of all, it is usually much larger and typically more spacious, with many rooms that can be separated into separate areas. This allows for the bachelor to mingle with other single people as opposed to living alone; it also allows him to socialize with other bachelor's that he may want to get to know.
A Bachelor Pad also has its own kitchen and dining room, allowing for dinners and gatherings with friends and colleagues. Many times, bachelor pads are equipped with private bathrooms, making it convenient for the bachelor to use the restroom in between social occasions.
Some bachelor pads are more expensive than others. While there are bachelor pads that are quite costly, there are also those that are very affordable. Some bachelor pads are furnished with private bathrooms and amenities, while others are simply rented out for single men only.
In the United States, a Bachelor's Pad is commonly referred to as a "single family dwelling unit." It does not require a mortgage and does not have to have the approval of either a bank or the lender. One exception to the rule is if the bachelor resides in a city such as San Francisco, which requires a mortgage and a co-signer. for example, the lender will probably want to see that the bachelor provides information on his credit card statement and pays his utilities on time. if the co-signer defaults. his payments are late). The lender will need to approve the renter on his own and is free to rent the pad until he has repaid the loan.
There are no laws regulating the size of the pad and there is no age restrictions as far as the size of the living quarters of the single person is concerned.
Some bachelor's pads are quite large, others are rather small, and a few of them are fairly small
In most cases, when renting a Bachelor's Pad, a landlord will expect the renter to pay the same monthly rental amount every month whether they live in the apartment or in their pad. This is normally referred to as a "floor plan", and is usually the case even if the pad is shared with several roommates. Most renters are required to pay the full amount of the monthly rent, so it is necessary for the renter to pay each person a fixed amount (even though that would not be the case in the case of a rented apartment).
A Bachelor's Pad will come with its own utilities, as well as some or all utilities like water, electricity, gas, cable television, internet, telephone lines, and even garbage disposal.
